Rocking the Docks at Flotilla
Highlight of March Dinner Meeting
Our 24 March 2018 dinner meeting took on a different tone as we
celebrated our docks being refurbished at Flotilla Island with a pot luck
dinner, a few rounds of "Name that Tune" and a warming bonfire.
Cdr RJ presented an informative program about USPS branding
efforts and how it has given us a new way to market ourselves as America's
Boating Club of Lake Murray. He also had the pleasure of swearing in three new
members: Sarah Gavin and Mary and Elvin Ventresco.
But the highlight of the day was arriving to find our docks
refurbished thanks to Mark Burtis and his team of helpers: Norm Agnew, David
Allen, Tim Barnhill, RJ Becht, Charlie Bruce, Dan Drake, Jason Simmons, Mike
Urquhart and Elvin Ventresco. Together they replaced damage decking, re-secured
cleats, replaced the ropes between the pilings at the shore end of the dock, and
power washed and stained the entire surface. A special thanks to Norm Agnew and
Agnew Lake Services for donating time, equipment and floats to replace the three
bad floats that were causing the end of the dock to sit dangerously low in the
water.
Don't miss an opportunity to check our good looking dock by
opening the slide show below to see photos of our members efforts and the fun
everyone had during our pot luck monthly dinner meeting.
