America's Boating Club of Lake Murray is excited to host a fun-filled weekend on beautiful Lake Murray for our friends from throughout District 26. Please review the following description of the weekend activities and watch your email for the registration form. All activities will center around Flotilla Island, our home port on Lake Murray, and we will monitor VHF Channel 78 during the weekend.
Friday 19 May
A member of ABC Lake Murray will be available to greet arriving guests at our home port, Flotilla Island, beginning at 1100, and assist with getting you checked in for the weekend. Our home port has a boat ramp with dock space that will be available for your use. We have arranged offsite parking for boat trailers, if needed, that is within 5 to 10 miles of Flotilla Island. Directions will be provided on arrival.
A "Meet and Greet" will be held from 1730-1830 during Happy Hour. Members are welcome to bring their drink of choice. We will serve a Picnic Dinner of burgers, dogs, and brats from 1830 until 2000, or later if needed for late arrivers. After dinner there will be an evening cruise to Lake Murray Dam (weather permitting), so bring a light jacket if you plan to make the cruise in your own boat or as a passenger with someone else. ABC Lake Murray members will have space available on their boats for guests who need a ride.
Saturday 20 May
Start your Saturday looking across Lake Murray from our front porch while you enjoy a Charcuterie Continental Breakfast from 0900 until 1100. A Pre-Scavenger Hunt is scheduled to take place on the docks at Flotilla from 1100 until 1130, with prizes available for the lucky pre-winners. During this time, bag lunches will be distributed to our D/26 guests who registered for them, while ABC Lake Murray members will provide their own lunch for the day's raft up. Members should bring their drink of choice and guests riding on someone else's boat should coordinate cooler needs.
At 1130, we will depart Flotilla for a full-fledged Lake Murray Scavenger Hunt that will conclude as everyone rafts up at 1300 at Camping Cove located by Dreher Island. The raft up will last until 1700 or whenever folks want to depart.
The evening begins back at Flotilla Island at 1730 with Happy Hour and light appetizers. Again, members are welcome to bring their drink of choice. At 1830 there will be an Italian Dinner consisting of Spaghetti with meatballs, Lasagna, Salad and garlic bread. The evening's theme is 70’s Disco Night so bring your 70’s attire and be ready for 70’s disco music and dancing after dinner.
Sunday 21 May
It's Pancakes at Flotilla beginning from 0900 until 1100 Sunday morning. There also will be bacon, sausage, and, fruit to enjoy with breakfast before you depart to travel home.
Again, ABC Lake Murray members will be on hand to help get out-of-town guests get situated for their trip home. And, for any guests who decide to hang around a few hours extra, there are always ABC Lake Murray members cruising and rafting up on Sunday afternoons. Just let us know so when a destination is selected, we can let you know where to join the fun.
Accommodations
While ABC Lake Murray docks are available for use by our D/26 guests, space is limited, especially dock space with power, This means complete your registration form early so we know how many guest boats we need to accommodate on the docks at Flotilla. If you just plan to bring your boat and stay the night in a local hotel, we've arranged for a 10-room block of rooms at each of the following hotels.
